This coin was designed specially for RVAHNAVY by Danish artist Mads Bangsø. Every detail has meaning and symbolizes the RA5C’s service with the United States Navy. |
On one side of the coin, the upward profile of the RA5C emblazoned across the Aircraft National Insignia represents the service to the U.S. Navy, along with the years “1964” and “1979” for the years of service.

• “Remember 73” is homage to the 73 aircraft lost during service. |
• “Unarmed” and “Unafraid” is the motto of manned aerial reconnaissance and the three stars represents the squadrons’ home stations; NAS Sanford, NAS Albany and NAS Key West. |
The other side of the coin has the silhouette of the Vigilante joined with the Reconnaissance Attack Wing One Insignia representing the unity of the RA5C squadrons under one echelon four command. |
• The "10 stars" across the top of the coin represent the 10 RVAH squadrons and the sole “black star” between “RVAH” and “NAVY” represents the organization of the community with the U.S. Navy. |
• The “tailhook” and single “black star” represents carrier based operations and the aircraft. |
